A man driving a minivan with far more weed than is allowed for personal use, was nabbed by RCMP on the Trans-Canada near Yale last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 33-year-old Surrey man was arrested after BC Highway Patrol officers found 33 kilograms of weed in ten, large storage containers inside his vehicle, according to a BC Highway Patrol media release issued today, May 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers were doing a road checks on Highway 1 near Yale at 3:30 p.m., April 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers noticed the suspicious storage containers and \u201can overpowering odour of green cannabis\u201d in the van.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis case illustrates how routine traffic enforcement can also uncover other serious violations,\u201d BC Highway Patrol Insp. Lori Orstad said in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn this instance, officers observed circumstances that required further investigation. Under the Cannabis Regulations, a federal licence is required to possess, store, or transport large quantities of cannabis. As the driver could not produce such a licence, he was arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
