Penticton retail cannabis shops will have to wait to see if the city will extend their hours of operation beyond 8 p.m.<\/p>\n
Penticton City Council received a petition of 300 signatures, requesting a change in retail operating hours to allow stores to remain open until 11 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. as the city now allows.<\/p>\n
Cannabis retail outlets in other major centres are varied in their closing times, with Kelowna, Vernon and kamloops stores open as late as 11 p.m.<\/p>\n
Penticton council opted to accept the petition but take no action until a formal review of the city’s cannabis store regulatory approach, which is scheduled for August, 2021.<\/p>\n
Council saw no reason to advance the schedule, which was set for review two years following the first cannabis retail store opening in the city.<\/p>\n
