SURREY \u2014 Police in Surrey, B.C., say a trafficking investigation has led to the discovery of large quantities of illicit drugs, charges against a 24-year-old man, and the deportation of two others. <\/p>\n
Police say their investigation began in February, setting off the search of a home in May, where the illicit drugs were found. <\/p>\n
The search uncovered about 16 kilograms of opium, along with quantities of cannabis, cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and heroin.<\/p>\n
More than $2,000 in cash was also found, and three people were arrested at the scene before being released pending the investigation.<\/p>\n
Police say 24-year-old Gurjot Singh was arrested last Friday and has now been charged with one count of trafficking and five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.<\/p>\n
The two other men who weren’t charged were removed from the country by the Canada Border Services Agency. <\/p>\n
Singh, a foreign national, remains in police custody with his next court appearance set for Friday.<\/p>\n
