KAMLOOPS – The legalization of cannabis is less than a month away, and the City of Kamloops is now accepting referrals for private cannabis business license applications. <\/p>\n
In a news release sent out today, Sept. 19, the city's planning and development manager Rod Martin says the B.C. Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch will be responsible for licensing private, non-medical pot shops within the city.<\/p>\n
"Any application for a private cannabis retail business in Kamloops must be reviewed by this provincial authority before it is referred to the City," Martin says in the release.<\/p>\n
The legalization of marijuana in Canada will take place on Oct. 17. The city has set the annual cannabis business license fee at $5,000 and the application fee at $1,600<\/a>.
