The Quality Inn You Didn’t See Coming

Business Spotlight

From infrared saunas to curated itineraries, this Vernon, BC hotel is catching guests by surprise with its amenities, comfort, and great location.

Visitors to the Vernon area love finding the city’s many hidden gems, such as great restaurants, adventure sports, and charming hotels. A few of these fantastic spots are hidden in plain sight—case in point is Vernon’s Quality Inn.

It is a natural assumption that a chain hotel will offer a run-of-the-mill experience, albeit a consistent one, but the Vernon Quality Inn offers a surprising departure from the ordinary. The main reason for this is the ownership; the hotel is locally owned and family-run. Additionally, the hotel manager, Vinil Sood, is far from your average hotel manager, and the upgrades and amenities he has painstakingly added are impressive.

Award-Winning Leadership Develops From Loving Where You Live

To say that Vinil is dedicated to customer satisfaction would be an understatement; He is absolutely passionate about crafting exceptional guest experiences. His infatuation with perfecting the guest experience is evident in the many awards the hotel has received, such as the 2024 Tourism Excellence Award from the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce. So, what drives Vinil to relentlessly seek ways to enhance his hotel guests’ stay? Apparently, the main reason comes down to loving where you live.

“We love the great community around us,” Vinil says, explaining that creating a fantastic hotel experience for visitors to discover is just one way he can help to promote the area he loves. “When we chat with our guests, it really shows that we have succeeded in surpassing their expectations; we work hard on sourcing value-added amenities our guests might not be expecting, and our client reviews show how popular this is.”

The Little Extras That Make a Big Difference

The upgrades Vinil refers to include state-of-the-art, in-room climate control systems and unique shared amenities such as a brand-new infrared sauna. “Many people visiting Vernon and the hotel are outdoor enthusiasts who live a healthy, physical lifestyle,” he tells us. Hence, the reason for adding the new sauna—it complements the property’s pool and hot tub perfectly, offering a complete detox option for hotel guests.

Providing an elevated guest experience makes good fiscal sense, too. “In this economy, people really want to get their money’s worth,” Vinil explains, “And the many upgrades we have done prove we have heard that request.” Hotel amenities and quality upgrades are just one part of what makes this Vernon hotel a great find, though, since the prime location plays a huge role in the positive feedback coming from patrons.

Step outside the hotel and you are minutes from Vernon’s top attractions. Locations such as Kal Tire Place, home to an NHL-sized ice sheet for hockey, and a popular destination all year round for trade shows. The hotel is close to shopping, walking trails, parks, and more. To top it off, Vernon’s world-renowned Silver Star Mountain resort is just twenty minutes away—an extensive year-round skiing and biking resort.

The Hotel That’s Changing How Visitors Experience Vernon

Vernon’s status as a top destination for Canadian and international tourists stems from the wide choice of activities you can do here. Vinil’s team has come up with a creative way to help guests make the most of all that is on offer by curating a series of potential itineraries. “I actually made most of these itineraries myself,” Vinil shares. “Since I love exploring the local area, and have a valuable insight into the many shops, golf courses, hiking trails, and restaurants, I wanted to help our guests by putting together sample trip itineraries—and encourage others to do the same.”

Vinil’s example of showcasing local excursions has certainly rubbed off on others; a quick scroll through the hotel’s Instagram page reveals a dizzying array of trips taken by hotel patrons, along with valuable tips for making the most of the property’s prime location. Along with the itineraries to wineries, alpine adventures, and other local attractions, Vinil has undertaken another initiative that hotel guests love—a discount program for local businesses.

Eating and Entertainment Options Are Just Steps Away

“Our front desk has a full list of over 35 participating businesses,” Vinil tells us, and that list features the best of the great food and entertainment options Vernon has on offer. Linked businesses include discounts at the much-loved Kelly Obrien’s Eatery (directly across the street from the hotel) and the iconic Mr. Mike’s Steakhouse, where Quality Inn guests receive free appetizers with their meal.

No need to worry about breakfast, though; it is covered by a complimentary buffet featuring fresh fruit, waffles, and a range of other options. “We get a lot of great feedback about our complimentary breakfast buffet,” he shares, adding that the hours have now been extended to allow guests a leisurely breakfast.

Sustainability Meets Comfort

For Vinil and his team, caring about their guests and community extends beyond the Okanagan; the hotel takes a global approach to sustainability, as reflected in its membership in the Biosphere Sustainable Recognition program.

This prestigious status reflects the hotel’s far-reaching efforts to create a low-impact stay, from solar-assisted power supplies to tier-2 electric vehicle charging stations. Tied into what captures guests by surprise is the fact that Vernon’s Quality Inn is a certified Green Key property, and the city’s first solar-powered hotel. Whether guests are using the hotel’s meeting room (included free of charge with their stay) or detoxing in the sauna, they can rest assured that Vinil and his team are doing everything they can to keep hotel stays green. Vernon’s centrally located Quality Inn is at 4204 32nd Street, Vernon. For inquiries, contact them at (236) 599-0996.

Brought 3 of our grandchildren for a winter vacation to the (Vernon) winter carnival. Decided to stay at the Quality Inn and we are sure glad we did! The location was perfect, so we could walk to go out for dinner and later for ice cream. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating. And the pool room is like a tropical paradise with all the huge live plants and large windows to the outdoors. I would definitely recommend and will be staying again in the future. Thanks.
