Deer breaks into Kamloops home, chaos ensues

Kamloops RCMP officers wrestled a trespassing deer this weekend after the unwanted guest entered through a home's dog door.

On Saturday Jan. 23, officers arrived at a home on the 900 block of Pine Springs Road after receiving a call that a deer was inside a home trying to escape, according to an RCMP press release.

RCMP said the deer entered through a dog door and was jumping at the fireplace and a window trying to escape. The intruder also left a TV and some other items damaged in its attempts to flee.

The officers had to use a blanket to cover the deer's head and hold it down. They then placed a rug underneath it to slide it out of the house.

The deer suffered a minor cut to its mouth when it pushed its way through the dog door, RCMP said.

“Wildlife inside a house can be extremely destructive," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release. "In this case, police were able to safely help the deer out, preventing any further harm from occurring to the animal or the house.”
