A well-known Kamloops music shop may soon be the site of a five-storey condo building.<\/p>\n

Lee's Music and Riversong Guitars are currently on Battle Street and while the future of the businesses isn't clear, the current building won't stand much longer.<\/p>\n

Kamloops city council approved the redevelopment of the 1305 Battle Street property into a 20-unit condo building, Feb. 6.<\/p>\n

The store has been around for years, with the location doubling as a music store and headquarters for the guitar manufacturing side of the business.<\/p>\n

Owner Mike Miltimore, whose father Lee originally owned the store, was not available to comment on his plans for the store location as the site is prepared for eventual redevelopment.<\/p>\n

The Vernon Morning Star<\/a> reported last year that Miltimore is moving the Riversong Guitars manufacturing to a new location in Sicamous.<\/p>\n

Now that council has approved the development permit, the builder has two years to start the work before it expires.<\/p>\n

The new condo will be a strata building, with five commercial lots on the ground floor, according to a City report.<\/p>\n
