{"id":1398,"date":"2023-09-15T10:22:05","date_gmt":"2023-09-15T17:22:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inhome\/kamloops-bat-attackers-home-going-to-court-ordered-sale\/"},"modified":"2023-09-16T07:00:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-16T14:00:00","slug":"kamloops-bat-attackers-home-going-to-court-ordered-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inhome\/news\/1398\/kamloops-bat-attackers-home-going-to-court-ordered-sale\/","title":{"rendered":"Kamloops bat attacker&#8217;s home going to court ordered sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> It has been over eight years since Jessie Simpson was attacked by Kristopher Teichrieb with a baseball bat in Kamloops that left the then 18-year-old with lifelong mental and physical injuries.<\/p>\n<p> And while Teichrieb was ordered by the court to pay $6.9 million in damages in 2021, so far Jessie hasn&#39;t seen a penny of it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> Teichrieb&rsquo;s former house at 1715 Clifford Ave. in Kamloops is going up for a court ordered sale, Sept. 18, with the proceeds going to Jessie&#39;s mom Sue Simpson to help pay for her son&rsquo;s ongoing care, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/2218394074\/?hoisted_section_header_type=recently_seen&amp;multi_permalinks=10160001517664075\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">but according to her recent social media post,<\/a> Sue doesn&rsquo;t think Jessie will be seeing much money.<\/p>\n<p> In the post Sue said she&#39;s been praying for the court ordered sale for years but she doesn&#39;t think much money will be left once its sold. The house has a second mortgage, there are real estate fees and lawyer fees to be paid from the proceeds.<\/p>\n<p> The house once belonged to Kristopher Teichrieb, but <a href=\"https:\/\/infotel.ca\/newsitem\/why-jessie-simpson-may-not-see-a-penny-of-his-69m-award\/it80876\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he transferred the property to his parents, Kornelius and Cheryle Teichrieb for $1<\/a> in 2018.<\/p>\n<p> In February 2018, Sue filed a civil suit against Teichrieb seeking damages for personal injury and loss, but it wasn&rsquo;t until 2021 that she was awarded $6,935,445, and it was never clear how or when Jessie would get the money.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- start image2 --><\/p>\n<figure data-type=\"media\" data-slug=\"MediaItemID97987-2422.png\" data-filename=\"MediaItemID97987-2422.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inhome\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/MediaItemID97987-2422.png\" alt=\"|\" title=\"|\"><figcaption>Kamloops man Jessie Simpson at a care home in Kamloops., Kristopher Teichrieb&#8217;s Brocklehurst home is listed at $850,000 as part of a court-ordered sale. Credit: Re\/Max Real Estate Kamloops<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!-- end image2 --><\/p>\n<p> The five bedroom, one bath house has since been refinanced and, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.remax.ca\/bc\/kamloops-real-estate\/1715-clifford-ave-wp_idm00000611-172379-lst\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to a real estate listing with RE\/MAX needed to be renovated<\/a>. The house is currently listed at $850,000 with an opening accepted offer of $851,500.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/infotel.ca\/newsitem\/bank-to-foreclose-500k-mortgage-on-kamloops-bat-attackers-home\/it97247\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">It has an unpaid mortgage of $484,700 and a $54,574 line of credit against it.<\/a>&nbsp;The nearly $540,000 owed to the bank will likely be paid as part of the court-ordered sale before the Simpsons get their share. B.C.
