The Sturgeon supermoon appeared in various shades through wildfire smoke, often orange or apricot colour last night and local shutterbugs caught some great photos.<\/p>\n

The Sturgeon moon is one of two supermoons in August, the second, called a Blue supermoon, is showing up at the end of the month. A supermoon happens when the moon’s orbit is closest to the earth at the same time it is full making it appear bigger and brighter than usual.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The moon reaches maximum fullness at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 1. Nighttime skies are predicted to be clear in Kamloops and the Okanagan Valley for the next couple of nights for those who didn’t get a chance to view the moon yet.<\/p>\n
