Elves, Orcs, Dwarves and Lord of the Rings fans are all welcome at the Hobbit Mountain Hole.<\/p>\n

The Airbnb has gathered a fair amount of attention over the years, when former owner Will Bardes built the authentic hobbit home<\/a> on his property for fun. In 2019, he sold it along with his property and moved to the U.S.<\/p>\n

After taking a much-needed break this winter, new owner Christina Le Comte said the Lord of the Rings-style getaway, located 30 minutes away from Osoyoos, has been very popular.<\/p>\n

It reopened this week and guests have already been booking it a year in advance, she said.<\/p>\n

According to Airbnb, there’s only a few spots left to book the getaway in April before bookings are available in the fall.<\/p>\n

“There are always people who cancel. I have people contact me when there’s a cancellation so that seems to be working out quite well… but people are booking for next year already and I don’t know if that’s pandemic related,” Le Comte said.<\/p>\n

Le Comte has had inquiries about the short-term rental from across B.C., but COVID-19 restrictions may have impacted her would-be guests, she said. Some have visited from as far as Ontario and she does have guests booked with her from Arizona, but their plans may be cancelled with border closures, she said.<\/p>\n

With it being her first winter owning the hobbit house, Le Comte didn’t know what to expect. She said there’s still snow on the ground so next year she may open it for the season a little later in the year.<\/p>\n

Le Comte has been adding different grasses to the house as well as doing some gardening and landscaping but has no plans to expand the house as it’s a lot of work and she doesn’t want to ruin its magic.<\/p>\n

“People are just crazy about it,” she said.<\/p>\n
