iN TRAFFIC: Cold snap coming for B.C. Interior

Temperatures are expected to plummet tomorrow, bringing winter back to January.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for almost the entire province calling for gusty winds to bring an arctic front and temperatures 10 to 20 degrees colder than normal for this time of year in the Interior.

Drivers will also want to be careful on the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt where there's near zero visibility due to fog, prompting a fog advisory. It's expected to let up this afternoon. 

DriveB.C. reports no major issues on the roads, but they are dotted throughout the province with construction work.

Temperatures in Kamloops is expected to reach 5 Celsius throughout the day, according to Environment Canada. Vernon and Kelowna should reach 4 C with a 60% chance of rain showers or wet flurries. Penticton is in for a high of 6 C with a 30% chance of showers.

It’s cloudy and -1 at Big White Mountain Resort, where 2 centimetres of new snow has been reported and 22 centimetres over the past week. It's -1 C at Sun Peaks Ski Resort where there was 1 cm of snow since yesterday and 21 cm over the past seven days; SilverStar Mountain Resort has a fresh snow depth of 1 cm today and 18 cms over the last week. It's -2 at Apex Mountain Resort no new snow in the last 24 hours.
