iN NUMBERS: Which city in the Okanagan and Kamloops has the worst drivers?

People love to complain about the lousy drivers in their city, but complaining about drivers in other cities is even more fun.

Luckily for us, ICBC recently released some numbers on impaired driving, speeding and even some careless cyclists.

Here are some numbers to help you shame drivers in other cities, or your own city, up to you:

  • 88: Impaired driving incidents in Kamloops were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 67: Impaired driving incidents in Kelowna were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 17: Impaired driving incidents in Penticton were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 50: Impaired driving incidents in Vernon were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 3,277: Speeding incidents in Kelowna were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 2,497: Speeding incidents in Kamloops were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025.
  • 1,529: Speeding incidents in Vernon were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025
  • 85: Speeding incidents in Penticton were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025. This seems like a low number compared to the other cities. It could be that people were driving safely in Penticton, or maybe the speeding infractions weren’t reported to ICBC.
  • 7: Cyclists in Kelowna were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025. Mostly for not wearing a helmet, but some hooligan was busted for cycling on the sidewalk.
  • 2: Cyclists in Kamloops were reported to ICBC in the first half of 2025, one for careless cycling and one for failing to wear a helmet.
