One dead after semi-truck crash near Lytton

A 49-year-old Surrey man died Monday after two semi-trucks collided near Lytton and police are looking for witnesses.

A blue Kenworth tractor-trailer heading north collided with a green Volvo tractor-trailer heading south on Highway 1 on Tank Hill Bridge just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 24, according to a press release from police.

The driver of the Volvo died in the crash, and the 38-year-old Chilliwack man who was driving the Kenworth was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Volvo was hauling two enclosed trailers and the Kenworth was pulling two empty flat-deck trailers.

“Some key witnesses have already spoken to police, and investigators are looking into the driving behaviour of both trucks leading up to the crash,” BC Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael McLaughlin said in the release. “If you have dash camera video, or you saw either of these trucks on the road, police need to speak to you.”

Anyone with information or video has been asked to contact BC Highway Patrol Kamloops at 250-828-3111 and quote file (2100) 2025-3960.
