Vernon RCMP looking for help after two women run down by truck

Two women were taken to hospital in Vernon at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning after being struck by a truck.

“A frontline officer was patrolling in downtown Vernon when they came across a group of people standing in the middle of the intersection of 29 Avenue and 30 Street,” says a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP news release. “As the officer approached the group, he could see two women on the ground with visible injuries being treated by bystanders.”

The driver of the “lifted, black, Dodge 1500” did not stop and fled northbound on 30 Street.

Both women were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police could not find the vehicle and are asking anyone with more information or video of the incident, including business security camera footage, to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
