Thousands sign petition fighting way PST is now charged on used vehicles in B.C

Graham Hugill knew he wasn't the only British Columbian feeling annoyed by the province's new red tape on used car sales.

So he started a petition on change.org.

“When is enough enough as this new scheme the NDP government dreamed up is not only unfair,” reads the petition. “It's out of touch and is like stealing from all British Columbians that are trying to make it in these difficult times.”

Over 8,600 people had signed the petition by the time of publication with a goal of 10,000.

On Oct. 1, the province started charging PST on used vehicles based on the value listed in the Canadian Black Book valuation guide instead of the actual price paid.
