Kelowna cops haul 10 vehicles off road for excessive speed

Drivers still aren't getting the message, police say.

Since June 14, police have taken 10 vehicles off the road for excessive speed, including a Dodge Charger caught 142 km/h in the 60 km/h zone July 4. That driver got a $382 ticket and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The vehicle was also uninsured, earning another $598 ticket.

Most recently, police caught a truck travelling at 136 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

“Ten vehicles removed from our streets all for excessive speeds, this is completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous. These drivers are wilfully putting countless lives at risk,” Kelowna RCMP spokesperson, Const. Mike Della-Paolera said.
