One dead in Highway 97 crash near Monte Lake

One person died yesterday in a vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Monte Lake.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the crash took place just before 10 a.m yesterday, June 19, when a small Hyundai passenger vehicle heading west crossed the centre line and struck a pickup truck towing a travel trailer head-on.

The lone occupant of the Hyundai was killed in the crash.

The occupants of the pickup were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The fatal collision happened in the 3000 block of Highway 97 and the road was closed for several hours as emergency crews dealt with the crash and police conducted an investigation.

No other information was given by the RCMP.
