An erratic driver was arrested with a car full of drugs earlier today after the vehicle drove onto the sidewalk and nearly hit a child.
According to a West Kelowna RCMP media release, the car, a silver Hyundai, was spotted driving erratically on Bentley Road near Daimler Drive today, Jan. 19, following an earlier sighting near Shannon Lake School.
The silver Hyundai had driven into the sidewalk and almost hit a child.
Police then located the vehicle parked outside a business on Highway 97.
The driver, a man known to police, had parked illegally and was seen to be in possession of drug paraphernalia while sitting in the car.
Police apprehended the driver and found "a significant amount" of suspected crack cocaine, fentanyl and marijuana.
The driver was arrested and is now facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.
"Between the watchful eyes of the original complainant and the quick response by police officers, thousands of dollars of illegal and dangerous drugs were taken off the streets," West Kelowna RCMP Corp. Judith Bertrand said in the release.
