RCMP catch 12 impaired drivers over two days in South Okanagan

RCMP officers checked more than 300 vehicles during a weekend drunk driving crackdown in the South Okanagan.

Officers with the BC Highway Patrol charged 12 people with various impaired driving offences on Nov. 22 and 23, according to an RCMP media release. Police also caught two people who were driving while prohibited.

Police don't say exactly where in the South Okanagan the roadside checks were conducted or what time of day they happened.

The highway patrol said it's reminding the public to plan ahead for holiday events, and arrange for a designated driver or some other safe ride home.

“BC Highway Patrol will be out in force throughout the South Okanagan this holiday season conducting enforcement activities and working hard to make our roads safer,” reads the release.
