Westside Road closed again following last week’s landslide

Westside Road was reopened to single-lane traffic over the weekend but it is closed again.

A landslide on April 1 closed the road for several days but crews were able to get the road fit for single-lane alternating traffic.

Following some heavy rain the road is now closed in both directions at the landslide site 13 kilometres east of West Kelowna between Main Street and Denison Road.

The next update is set for noon today, April 7.

Crews were planning to add new culverts at the site to protect that section of road from any future slides.

The original washout occurred following heavy rainfall, which triggered water and debris to release down a channel and cover the road. No structure damage or injuries were reported in the landslide.

The road was scheduled to be open for single-lane alternating traffic today, but it opened ahead of schedule yesterday, and now it’s closed again.
