Barenaked Ladies to rock CPKC holiday train on BC Interior stops

CPKC announced its schedule for its annual holiday train, this year bringing an iconic Canadian band through the BC Interior.

Its mid-December schedule has the holiday train making stops from Revelstoke to Lytton from Dec. 17 to 19.

“I can’t imagine a better way to visit some of Canada’s beautiful mountain towns than by riding the CPKC Holiday Train. It’s going to be a great time for a great cause,” Ed Roberston of the Barenaked Ladies said in a CPKC news release issued today, Oct. 9.

The decorated train makes 196 stops across six provinces and 13 US states, bringing festive musical performances to each community and raising money for food banks.

Since 1999, the initiative has donated more than $26 million dollars and 5.4 million pounds of food to food banks in Canada and the US, according to a CPKC news release.

Its BC Interior stretch starts with a Dec. 16 stop in Golden before heading to Revelstoke the next day.

Sicamous, Canoe, Salmon Arm and Notch Hill will also host the decked-out train on Dec. 17. It then makes its way through Chase, Kamloops, Savona and Ashcroft on Dec. 18.

“We are thrilled to send this beautiful train filled with lights and music to spread the joy of the season and proud to support the giving spirit of the holidays assisting people experiencing food insecurity. It’s incredible to see communities come together every year to celebrate the holidays while supporting local food banks,” company president Keith Creel said in the release.

The BC Interior route ends with a stop in Lytton on Dec. 19.
