Gas prices in Kelowna, Vernon plummet while the rest of B.C. isn’t so lucky

One of the only things about the pandemic that wasn’t awful was the price of gas.

Now, gas prices in Kelowna, Vernon and other parts of the province have hit lows we haven’t seen in years.

Kelowna’s cheapest litre of gas is a Super Save Gas for $1.07.4 a litre, and in Vernon it’s also a Super Save Gas station at $1.07.9 a litre, according to GasBuddy.com.

Kelowna has the cheapest gas in BC with five out of the 10 cheapest gas prices in the province, Feb. 17.

Today’s gas prices feel pretty good since in 2022 Kelowna had a peak gas price of $2.17 a litre, but it’s not quite as low as it was in 2020 at $0.89 a litre.

Gas prices have been dropping since the BC Consumer Carbon Tax was lifted on April 1, 2025, but prices in parts of B.C. plummeted recently.

Grand Forks and Salmon Arm have comparable prices to Kelowna and Vernon at around $1.07 to $1.09 a litre.

Drivers in Penticton and Kamloops haven’t had the same luck.

The cheapest gas in Penticton was at Gen7 today at $1.31.9 and in Kamloops was at Costco for $1.29.9. The cheapest gas in Vancouver was $1.47.9 at Canco and in Victoria it was at Costo for $1.54.9.

The average gas price in the province is $1.50.1 per litre, the most expensive in the country and the province with the cheapest gas is Alberta with an average $1.16.4 per litre.
