Arsonist strikes in Coldstream setting SUV on fire

Four vehicles were damaged after an arsonist set one of them on fire in Coldstream early this morning.

Officers on patrol spotted a burning SUV in the 11000 block of Kal Lake Road at approximately 3:30 a.m., March 31, according to an RCMP media release.

The cops used extinguishers to knock down the fire and stop it from growing. Firefighters arrived and completely put out the blaze.

RCMP said four vehicles vandalized including two that received fire damage.

“The cause of the fire has not been determined, however evidence at the scene indicates it was intentionally set,” Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

Investigators are asking residents in the neighbourhood to check their security  camera footage between 2 and 4 a.m.

Anyone with information, or video footage with anything suspicious, is asked to call Vernon North Okanagan at 250-545-7171 and cite file 2026-5022.
