Vernon gas up to 40 cents cheaper than other Okanagan cities
Vernon gas prices remain the lowest in the province as the average across BC hovers at nearly $2 per litre.
With the cheapest stations selling at $1.43.9 per litre, it’s an anomaly across the province as Vernon drivers paying almost 40 cents less per litre than others even 100 kilometres away.
Penticton, for example, has the highest prices in the Thompson-Okanagan region. As of June 1, most are at $1.84.9 per litre, according to GasBuddy.com.
Prices have been fluctuating for months in the region since the war in Iran shocked global oil markets, but the Thompson-Okanagan market appears to see its lowest prices in Vernon with some regularity.
BC’s average gas prices are the highest among Canadian prices with $1.91.8. At the same time last year, the provincial average was almost 40 cents cheaper at $1.57.9.
While Vernon remains the lowest in the region, prices vary across the Thompson-Okanagan. The lowest price for Kamloops drivers is $1.74.9 while Kelowna’s cheapest is $1.59.9 per litre on June 1.
