Snow expected on mountain passes

Heads up, drivers, you may encounter snow on mountain passes today.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement today, May 6, for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt as well as Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton and from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

The weather office says a Pacific frontal system is moving across BC today and snow levels should remain at or below these mountain pass highways. Snowfall accumulation is possible.

Keep an eye on drivebc.ca throughout the day.

You can expect highs of 16 to 17 Celsius today in the Okanagan with a 40% chance of showers and a high of 18 C in Kamloops but should only get better from there. The seven-day forecast shows increasing temperatures through the week before reaching highs of 30 C in the Okanagan on Saturday and 32 C in Kamloops.
