Gas prices skyrocket in Kamloops, Okanagan
If you’re gobsmacked at the pumps in the Okanagan today you aren’t alone.
Gas prices are up to around $1.96.9 throughout the region, including Kamloops, Kelowna and Vernon but several gas stations in Penticton have prices a bit lower, around $1.93.9.
Prices skyrocketed $0.30 at some gas stations like an Esso in Vernon which was at $1.65 at 8 a.m. on July 28 and now it’s at $1.96.9 just a few hours later.
The lowest gas price in Kelowna is $1.89.9, in Kamloops it’s much lower at $1.66.9, in Vernon it’s $1.64.9 and in Penticton it’s $1.91.9.
The average gas price in B.C. is $1.95 as the U.S.-Israel war with Iran enters its sixth month and the future of the Strait of Hormuz remains uncertain.
Gas prices are up as oil prices decline.
Brent crude oil is at $78.72 USD a barrel. When gas first hit the $2 a litre mark back in May Brent crude oil was around $114 USD a barrel.
