UPDATE: Traffic flowing again on Bennett Bridge following car crash

A serious vehicle accident closed the W.R. Bennett Bridge in Kelowna to most traffic this morning, stopping thousands of commuters.

All southbound traffic stopped and closed from Pandosy Street to Campbell Road on the west side of the bridge. One lane was open for northbound traffic. Police advised drivers who had to get through to go through Vernon via Westside Road.

DriveBC cams show the accident, which happened around 4:15 a.m., Sept. 22, has been cleared and traffic is flowing again. Drivers should expect volume delays as the backlog of traffic clears.

The crash may have impacted one of the Drive BC cameras on the bridge as it was out of service.
