Two killed in crash that closed Kelowna’s Bennett bridge
RCMP say alcohol was a contributing factor in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning that closed Kelowna’s Bennett bridge for hours.
An eastbound Toyota hit a westbound Jeep at around 4 a.m., Sept. 22, on Highway 97 near Campbell Road in West Kelowna, according to an RCMP media release.
Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing but RCMP say alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the driving behaviour of both drivers involved in the fatal crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, observed either vehicle before the crash or has dash camera footage from the area at the time of the Collin are asked to call the RCMP’s BC Highway Patrol at 250-491-5354.
