An Alberta trucker who almost caused a head-on collision by overtaking on a solid double solid line north of Kamloops will likely never face repercussions for their reckless driving.<\/p>\n
According to a BC Highway Patrol media release issued today, July 26, the driver, who lived in Edmonton, was promptly fired by the company after video footage of his incredibly dangerous maneuver hit the media, but then left the country.<\/p>\n
If the Albertan comes back to Canada but doesn't step foot in BC he'll avoid the fine.<\/p>\n
The incident happened in early April and BC Highway Patrol launched an investigation.<\/p>\n
The investigation led to the Edmonton Police Service serving violation ticket on behalf of RCMP in BC.<\/p>\n
However, the release says charges under the Motor Vehicle Act in BC have a one-year statute of limitations, so the trucker will have to come back to BC within a year for charges to be laid.<\/p>\n
RCMP say the unnamed company involved was cooperative with police during the investigation.<\/p>\n
BC Highway Patrol says it takes dangerous driving extremely seriously and urges the public to call police if they see any driver driving recklessly.<\/p>\n
