Green Lake Road in Okanagan Falls has been flattened out, and the boulder that took a chunk of out it has been crushed into a pile of rocks.<\/p>\n

It looked like another one of Wile E. Coyote’s booby traps had back-fired after a large boulder crushed the road on May 20<\/a>. But fortunately there were no animals or people below when it came tumbling down.<\/p>\n

Geotechnical crews with B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation said the boulder was about 15 cubic metres in volume, and estimate that it fell from 200 to 300 metres above the road.<\/p>\n

“There were six people involved in the team, using an excavator with a rock hammer and dump truck,” a spokesperson for the Ministry said in an email.<\/p>\n

The road was reopened by May 24.<\/p>\n

“We are pleasantly surprised that it was cleaned up so quickly,” said Caroline Webb, who was one of the first people to stumble upon the wreckage last weekend.<\/p>\n

Webb said she’ll be extra cautious when she passes along that route from now on.<\/p>\n
