Plainclothes officers with the Kelowna RCMP spent some of their enforcement efforts taking an uneventful bus ride. <\/p>\n
In response to reports of youths causing trouble, members of the Kelowna RCMP’s Community Safety Unit, in separate teams, went undercover on transit buses on March 31, according to a release from the Kelowna RCMP.<\/p>\n
While most of the time it was uneventful until they were downtown at night and they found a group of youth “beginning to gather and poorly behave,” the release says.<\/p>\n
Officers made two arrests for being intoxicated in public and one was criminally charged. Alcohol, drugs and a weapon were seized. They also broke up what they thought was going to be a fight.<\/p>\n
“This is turning into a recurring problem from what seems to be the same group of people and we remind everyone that we do not tolerate any abusive or violent behaviour anywhere in our community,” Sgt. Scott Powrie said in the release.<\/p>\n
