{"id":1325,"date":"2023-02-10T00:05:22","date_gmt":"2023-02-10T08:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/2023\/02\/10\/in-traffic-snowfall-warning-in-effect-for-the-coquihalla-2\/"},"modified":"2023-02-10T08:05:22","modified_gmt":"2023-02-10T16:05:22","slug":"in-traffic-snowfall-warning-in-effect-for-the-coquihalla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/1325\/in-traffic-snowfall-warning-in-effect-for-the-coquihalla\/","title":{"rendered":"iN TRAFFIC: Snowfall warning in effect for the Coquihalla"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Drivers travelling on the Coquihalla Highway this morning can expect 15 to 25 centimetres of snowfall.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/warnings\/report_e.html?bc32\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Environment Canada issued a warning<\/a>&nbsp;that remains in effect until late this morning, Feb. 10, and applies to&nbsp;the stretch of highway between Hope and Merritt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> &quot;The heavy snow will ease to flurries this afternoon,&quot; the warning says. &quot;Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.&quot;<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/drivebc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DriveB.C.<\/a> is reporting <strong>Highway 1<\/strong> has water pooling in the Sicamous area, slippery sections between Kamloops and Sicamous, and black ice between Spences Bridge and Chache Creek; <strong>Highway 3<\/strong> has compact snow from Princeton to Hedley and slippery sections from Hedley to Keremeos; <strong>Highway 6EW<\/strong> has limited visibility due to fog from Vernon to Cherryville; <strong>Highway 97A<\/strong> has water pooling between Davidson Drive and the end of the highway; and <strong>Highway 97C<\/strong> has compact snow between the Pennask Summit and Trepanier Road.<\/p>\n<p> Charles Andrews commutes from Armstrong to Sicamous via <strong>Highway 97A<\/strong>. He reported that the road was wet with slippery sections the entire way.<\/p>\n<p> &quot;There was fog between Armstrong and Enderby,&quot; Andrews said about this morning&#39;s drive. &quot;The fog lifted between Enderby and Grindrod. From Grindrod to Sicmous patches of light fog.&quot;<\/p>\n<p> Looking at weather, <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-45_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kamloops<\/a> will get a high of 6 Celsius and low of 2 C. <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-27_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vernon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-48_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kelowna<\/a> will warm from 0 to 4 C and then drop to 2 C by the end of the day. And in <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-84_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Penticton<\/a> expected to get a high of 6 C and low of 3 C.<\/p>\n<p> At the ski hills, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigwhite.com\/mountain-conditions\/daily-snow-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big White Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 3 centimetres of new snow and 21 cm over the past week. There&rsquo;s 2 cm of new snow at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunpeaksresort.com\/ski-ride\/weather-conditions-cams\/weather-snow-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sun Peaks Ski Resort<\/a> and 29 cm over the past week. The last significant snowfall at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snow-forecast.com\/resorts\/Silver-Star\/snow-report#:~:text=The%20SilverStar%20snow%20report%20is,20%20cm)%20past%207%20days.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SilverStar Mountain Resort<\/a> was 4 cm on Jan. 31 and today there is a fresh snow depth of 8 cm.
