{"id":1338,"date":"2023-02-04T00:25:29","date_gmt":"2023-02-04T08:25:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/2023\/02\/04\/in-traffic-temperatures-are-getting-warmer-in-kamloops-and-the-okanagan\/"},"modified":"2023-02-04T08:25:29","modified_gmt":"2023-02-04T16:25:29","slug":"in-traffic-temperatures-are-getting-warmer-in-kamloops-and-the-okanagan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/1338\/in-traffic-temperatures-are-getting-warmer-in-kamloops-and-the-okanagan\/","title":{"rendered":"iN TRAFFIC: Temperatures are getting warmer in Kamloops and the Okanagan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> There are a few things for travellers in the Interior to keep in mind today, Feb. 4.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/drivebc.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DriveB.C.<\/a> is reporting <strong>Highway 1<\/strong> has slushy sections near Sicamous; <strong>Highway 3<\/strong> has slippery sections from Princeton to Hedley; <strong>Highway 5 <\/strong>has compact snow from the Great Bear Snowshed to Coquihalla Summit; <strong>Highway 97<\/strong> has slippery sections from Coldstream to Vernon; <strong>Highway 97C<\/strong> has slippery sections from Merritt to West Kelowna; and <strong>Highway 97D <\/strong>has slippery sections throughout.<\/p>\n<p> Anybody travelling on <strong>Highway 5 <\/strong>north of Kamloops can expect delays because a vehicle recovery is underway. The highway will be down to single lane alternating traffic between Kealty Road and Orchard Lake Road until 5 p.m.<\/p>\n<p> Temperatures will remain above the negatives throughout Kamloops and the Okanagan. Environment Canada is forecasting <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-45_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kamloops<\/a> will warm from 1 Celsius to 7 C by 4 p.m. and then drop down to 4 C tonight. In <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-27_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vernon<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-48_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kelowna<\/a>, temperatures will rise from 0 this morning to 4 C in the afternoon and back to 0 by tonight. <a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/city\/pages\/bc-84_metric_e.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Penticton<\/a> will warm from 2 C to 6 C and then dip down to 0 tonight. There is a high chance of flurries in Vernon and Kelowna tonight.<\/p>\n<p> At the ski hills, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bigwhite.com\/mountain-conditions\/daily-snow-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big White Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 15 centimetres over the past week and an alpine snow base of 188 cm. There has been 9 cm at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sunpeaksresort.com\/ski-ride\/weather-conditions-cams\/weather-snow-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sun Peaks Ski Resort<\/a> over the past week where there is an alpine base of 179 cm; the last significant snowfall at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snow-forecast.com\/resorts\/Silver-Star\/snow-report#:~:text=The%20SilverStar%20snow%20report%20is,20%20cm)%20past%207%20days.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SilverStar Mountain Resort<\/a>, where the alpine snow base is 194 cm, was 4 cm on Jan. 31; and Apex Mountain Resort got 4 cm of snow four days ago.<\/p>\n<p> &ldquo;There is going to be a mix of groomed runs, and still a few powder pockets out there for you today,&rdquo; according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apexresort.com\/the-mountain\/snow-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apex snow report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr style=\"width: 100%\" \/>\n<p> <span style=\"font-family:times new roman,times,serif;\">To contact a reporter for this story, <a href=\"mailto:dwalton@infonews.ca\">email Dan Walton<\/a>&nbsp;or call 250-488-3065 or <a href=\"mailto:news@infonews.ca\">email the editor<\/a>.
