There is a fog advisory in effect for the SImilkameen, and a few other minor obstacles for drivers in the Interior today, Jan 7. <\/p>\n
DriveB.C.<\/a> is reporting Highway 1 has slippery sections between Chase and Glacier National Park; Highway 97 has fog patches between Keremeos and Osoyoos; and Highway 97C has compact snow and fog patches from West Kelowna to the Pennack Summit.<\/p>\n Also a fog advisory is in effect this morning for the Similkameen.<\/p>\n “Conditions are favourable for the development of dense fog,” according to Environment Canada<\/a>. “Visibility is expected to gradually improve Saturday morning.”<\/p>\n In weather, the day starts at 0 in Kamloops<\/a> before warming to 3 Celsius this afternoon, and then dipping to 1 C tonight, according to Environment Canada. Vernon<\/a> and Kelowna<\/a> will both warm up from -2 C this morning to 1 C by the afternoon. Penticton<\/a> will hover between 4 C and 6 C throughout the day. There will be a chance of flurries in most of the region, however in the South Okanagan there is a chance of showers.<\/p>\n At the ski hills, Big White Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 2 centimetres of new snow and 8 cm over the past week. There has been 3 cm at Sun Peaks Ski Resort<\/a> over the past week where there is an alpine base of 126 cm; the last significant snowfall at SilverStar Mountain Resort<\/a> was 5 cm on Dec. 28, and the alpine snow base is 147 cm; and Apex Mountain Resort<\/a> is reporting 2 cm of new snow, 13 cm over the past week, and an alpine snow base of 159 cm.<\/p>\n To contact a reporter for this story, email Dan Walton<\/a> or call 250-488-3065 or email the editor<\/a>.
