Three Shuswap residents were killed yesterday in a head-on collision on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Sorrento.<\/p>\n
Chase RCMP said a black sedan travelling eastbound in the 400 block of Highway 1 crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an SUB travelling westbound.<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old driver of the eastbound vehicle, a man from Sorrento, and the driver and passenger of the westbound vehicle, a 67-year-old woman and 60-year-old man, both from Blind Bay, were all killed in the crash.<\/p>\n
The collision took place at roughly 1 p.m. July 5 near Little River Road.<\/p>\n
Chase RCMP Sgt. Barry Kennedy said the case is still under investigation and it is not known why the eastbound vehicle crossed the centreline.<\/p>\n
Sgt. Kennedy said the driver of the eastbound was from Sorrento and the couple killed were Blind Bay residents.<\/p>\n
Following the fatal accident, the two lane highway was closed for four hours.<\/p>\n
Sgt. Kennedy said the B.C. Coroners Office is also investigating the fatal crash.<\/p>\n
