Even though the weather is warming up and the snow is melting, the B.C. Highway Patrol in Merritt is reminding the public to slow down on local highways.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, May 1, eight excessive speeders were taken off the highway, one travelling 187 km\/h in a 110 km\/h zone, and some of the occupants in the vehicles were not wearing seatbelts, according to an RCMP media release.<\/p>\n
B.C. Highway Patrol Const. Vickie Taylor said if you drive at an excessive speed, you get towed, and it's your responsibility to find your way home.<\/p>\n
"Merritt doesn't have rental cars and the E-Bus is almost always fully booked," Const. Taylor said in the release.<\/p>\n
If caught speeding excessively you could face a fine of $368 or $483 along with a seven-day vehicle impound.<\/p>\n
