{"id":361,"date":"2024-09-26T07:53:46","date_gmt":"2024-09-26T14:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/infotel.go-vip.net\/blog\/2021\/09\/27\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-b-c-s-winter-tire-rules\/"},"modified":"2021-09-26T18:30:00","modified_gmt":"2021-09-27T01:30:00","slug":"everything-you-need-to-know-about-bcs-winter-tire-rules-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/361\/everything-you-need-to-know-about-bcs-winter-tire-rules-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything you need to know about B.C.&#8217;s winter tire rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> It&#39;s the first week of autumn and that means winter driving conditions are just around the corner for many parts of British Columbia.<\/p>\n<p> Winter tires or chains are required on most routes in B.C. from Oct. 1 to March 31.<\/p>\n<p> For select highways, including mountain passes and rural routes in high snowfall areas, the date is extended to April 30.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p> Signs posted on these designated highways advise drivers where and when winter tires are required.<\/p>\n<p> Vehicles not equipped with winter tires are prohibited from travelling past these signs.<\/p>\n<p> Motorists could be turned around if they don&#39;t have proper tires.<\/p>\n<p> Acceptable winter tires in B.C. have the three-peaked mountain and snowflake symbol, or the M+S (mud and snow) symbol on the tire sidewall.<\/p>\n<p> <!-- start image2 --><\/p>\n<figure data-type=\"media\" data-slug=\"MediaItemID86028-8617.jpg\" data-filename=\"MediaItemID86028-8617.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/MediaItemID86028-8617.jpg\" alt=\"|\" title=\"|\"><figcaption>BC Ministry of Transportation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!-- end image2 --><\/p>\n<p> Tires should be evenly matched in size, tread type and depth, with at least 3.5 mm of tread remaining.<\/p>\n<p> Studded tires can prove useful in winter driving, but are only allowed on B.C. highways from Oct. 1 to April 30.
