BC Highway Patrol is going to make a push to keep roads safe this Victoria Day long weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victoria Day long weekend sees an average of 2,200 crashes and three deaths each year and those numbers have been climbing, according to a press release from BC Highway Patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cMotorists will see roving patrols, unmarked police vehicles, and check stops as BC Highway Patrol officers all over BC look to stop distracted driving, aggressive driving, impaired driving, and people not wearing their seatbelts,\u201d BC Highway Patrol Supt. Mike Coyle said in the release. \u201cThe May long weekend is traditionally dangerous on our highways, so BC Highway Patrol will be using regular resources, overtime and joint projects with local detachments in an effort to make a safer tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There will be visible BC Highway Patrol operations in Kamloops, Barriere, Sicamous, Chase, Nelson, Cranbrook, Golden, Revelstoke and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police are setting up check stops in high-volume traffic areas in Metro Vancouver and around Vancouver Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers will serve as spotters in high-altitude locations with scopes to see dangerous driving, distracted driving and enforce seat belt laws.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
