A BC RCMP officer has been charged after getting into a car crash last year in the Boundary region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Midway RCMP Const. Christopher Odgaard has been charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to safely execute a U-turn, according to a press release from the BC Prosecution service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was driving an unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe and went to make a U-turn to conduct a traffic stop near the intersection of North Government Avenue and Campbell Street in Greenwood, according to a release from the Independent Investigations Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were four people in a grey Hyundai Tucson when it collided with the Tahoe that Odgaard was driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone in the Hyundai was seriously injured, two people had minor injuries and one person was uninjured. Odgaard was also injured in the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
B.C.\u2019s civilian police watchdog investigated the incident and forwarded the evidence to the BC Prosecution Service to consider charging Odgaard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With charges approved, Odgaard is set to appear in court on June 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service said the charges were approved by an experienced Crown Counsel who has no connection with the officer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
