A man caught on an electric dirt bike in Kamloops will spend three years in jail after a traffic stop by BC gang cops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Valemount man Christopher Fillingham, 48, was caught carrying cash, drugs and a loaded pistol after initially trying to flee a traffic stop, according the a BC Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit news release issued today, Nov. 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Already subject to a court-ordered weapons ban at the time, prosecutors laid two weapons charges against him. He was carrying a prohibited 9mm handgun at the time of the March 2024 traffic stop, loaded with six rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis sentence reflects the seriousness of the offence and the ongoing work underway to disrupt violent criminal behaviour in our communities,” Sgt. Sarbjit Sangha, spokesperson for the BC gang squad, said in the news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fillingham pleaded guilty to both weapons charges and was sentenced to three years in jail, Nov. 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has a list of previous convictions with court files in Kamloops and Kelowna, but most date back to before 2010. Some include charges for previous drug trafficking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
