Conditions on the Trans-Canada Highway in the Southern Interior are likely behind a pair of crashes involving big rigs this morning, one of the collisions claimed the life of the driver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RCMP were called to a fatal collision on Highway 1 east of Revelstoke around 9:20 a.m., Dec. 12, according to a press release from police.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two semi trucks got into a head-on collision and one of the drivers died at the scene.\u00a0The other driver was taken to the hospital in serious condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The highway is closed in both directions as RCMP investigate.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second crash happened shortly after at 9:30 a.m. on Highway 1 east of Golden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two semi trucks crashed and completely blocked the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both drivers had serious injuries and were taken to the hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The highway was closed but it has reopened for single-lane alternating traffic as the investigation continues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Golden-Field RCMP would like to remind drivers to drive to conditions and only travel if necessary.
