{"id":5063,"date":"2026-01-28T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-28T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/?p=7519320"},"modified":"2026-01-28T10:00:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-28T18:00:19","slug":"vernon-drunk-drivers-ride-home-also-impaired-rcmp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/5063\/vernon-drunk-drivers-ride-home-also-impaired-rcmp\/","title":{"rendered":"Vernon drunk driver&#8217;s ride home also impaired: RCMP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Vernon RCMP call it a &#8220;case of extremely poor judgment, times two.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers were called to a car accident at around 9:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in the intersection of Meadowlark Road and Pleasant Valley Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one was hurt, but one of the drivers failed a breath test and she was hit with a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and her car was impounded for 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happened next surprised police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The person she called to come give her a ride was also impaired and failed a roadside screening test and was also handed a 90-day licence suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt might seem a bit comical at first, but it isn\u2019t at all,&#8221; Vernon RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski said in a media release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Impaired driving can have serious and real consequences. Get it right the first time.&nbsp;Don\u2019t drink and drive and plan for a safe, sober, ride home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe
