A man was arrested last week in Kamloops for impersonating a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the crime reduction unit pulled over a white GMC pickup truck at around 11 p.m., Jan. 29, driven by a prohibited driver, according to an RCMP media release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers found body armour labeled \u2018Police\u2019 and \u2018RCMP\u2019 that was non-RCMP issue and discovered the truck was equipped with a siren along with red and blue lights in the grill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cImpersonating police is a criminal offence whether it be by false representation, badge, article, uniform or equipment which can pose a significant risk to both public and police safety,\u201d Sgt. Jason Pole with the crime reduction unit said in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A man in his 40s was arrested and has since been released from custody.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators are asking anyone that may have had an encounter with a man with driving a white GMC truck wearing partial police attire to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) and cite file 2026-3010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
