ABBOTSFORD \u2014 Authorities in Abbotsford, B.C., have notified the provincial police watchdog after a person was killed when a vehicle fleeing from police crashed into a tree.<\/p>\n
Abbotsford police say it happened late Monday on Maclure Road, when an officer spotted a speeding Dodge Ram pickup and tried to make a traffic stop.<\/p>\n
Police say the driver sped off, then lost control and crashed into the tree moments later. <\/p>\n
The driver was declared dead at the scene. <\/p>\n
Investigators say a crash analysis team has begun looking into the case, while the Independent Investigations Office has been notified and will conduct its own investigation. <\/p>\n
Police say traffic in the area of the crash scene has been disrupted as investigators gather evidence and seek out witnesses.<\/p>\n
