{"id":5448,"date":"2026-04-14T03:02:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T10:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/news\/7614230\/bc-police-chase-sees-pickup-truck-lose-couch-crash-into-two-rcmp-cruisers\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T09:31:02","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T16:31:02","slug":"bc-police-chase-sees-pickup-truck-lose-couch-crash-into-two-rcmp-cruisers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/5448\/bc-police-chase-sees-pickup-truck-lose-couch-crash-into-two-rcmp-cruisers\/","title":{"rendered":"B.C. police chase sees pickup truck lose couch, crash into two RCMP cruisers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SALMON ARM \u2014 Mounties in B.C.&#8217;s southern interior say a wild chase ended with two police cruisers being hit and a couch flying from the back of a pickup truck.<\/p>\n<p>RCMP say officers were called two weeks ago about a silver Dodge Dakota speeding and swerving all over the road.<\/p>\n<p>Police say they tried to stop the truck on the Trans-Canada Highway near Salmon Arm, east of Kamloops, but it sped off.<\/p>\n<p>They say the vehicle was later reported to be tearing through city streets, running stop signs and driving the wrong way on a one-way street \u2014 at one point losing the couch and its canopy.<\/p>\n<p>Mounties continued following the pickup, which soon slammed on the brakes and caused a crash with a police vehicle, dragging it before later hitting another.<\/p>\n<p>The truck finally came to a stop south of Salmon Arm.<\/p>\n<p>A 27-year-old was arrested and charged with assault and dangerous driving, among other offences.
