A 29-year-old Coldstream man had his car impounded after he was caught driving at nearly twice the speed limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A BC Highway Patrol spotted a Dodge Challenger going 207 km\/h in a 110 km\/h zone on Highway 97C eastbound near Elkhart on April 1, according to a press release from police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThat\u2019s obviously a dangerous speed, and nowhere near the already-generous speed limit,\u201d Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When BC Highway Patrol made the traffic stop, the man pulled over to the left side of the highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis traffic stop was made even more dangerous because the driver failed to pull over to the right,\u201d McLaughlin said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driver was given a $483 ticket for speeding, he has to pay the cost of a tow truck and a weeklong impound, plus he is going to have high-risk driver premiums. BC Highway Patrol estimated the cost of his stunt is around $2,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re glad that no one was hurt, because at these kinds of speeds, collisions lead to fatalities,\u201d McLaughlin said. \u201cWe would like to remind drivers to slow down.
