Kamloops Search and Rescue saved a man who crashed while riding a dirt bike near a cliff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 60-year-old man was riding around Duffy Lake Mountain at 1 p.m. on April 14, according to a press release from Kamloops RCMP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man crashed and fell 12 feet down an embankment before stopping on a cliff face. He ended up with lower leg fractures and other serious injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tk\u2019eml\u00faps Rural RCMP had a medic working when police received the call about the crash and they were able to hike out to the crashed rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWithout the police medic\u2019s intervention, the outcome for the injured rider could have been much different,\u201d Cpl. Dana Napier said in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police, search and rescue and BC Emergency Health Services all dispatched to try to extract the rider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cDue to the remote location, it was essential that first responders provided life saving medical care while Kamloops Search and Rescue was instrumental in the coordination of the extraction,\u201d Staff Sgt. Del Byron from Tk\u2019eml\u00faps Rural RCMP said in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Air Rescue One Heli Winch Society provided a helicopter which was used to evacuate the man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man was provided care for eight hours as ground rescue hiked in with the equipment needed to rescue and extract the man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
