A 55-year-old Vancouver man is in custody after he was caught stealing a Kamloops city bus this past weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At around 9:40 p.m. Saturday, April 25, officers were called to a report of collision between a city bus and a pickup truck in the 500 block of Landsdowne Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect had stolen the bus while the driver had stepped away, RCMP said in a media release issued, April 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He drove the bus into the back of a pickup truck that was heading westbound on Landsdowne. No one was hurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Steven Mehlenbacher, 55, of Vancouver was arrested and held in custody, RCMP said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mehlenbacher is facing charges of motor vehicle theft, dangerous operation of a conveyance and theft, according to court documents. He\u2019ll be back in court, May 5, for a bail hearing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
