{"id":5733,"date":"2026-05-04T14:18:17","date_gmt":"2026-05-04T21:18:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/?p=7634574"},"modified":"2026-05-04T14:18:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T21:18:19","slug":"section-of-okanagan-rail-trail-set-to-close-for-proactive-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/infonews.ca\/inwheels\/news\/5733\/section-of-okanagan-rail-trail-set-to-close-for-proactive-repairs\/","title":{"rendered":"Section of Okanagan Rail Trail set to close for \u2018proactive\u2019 repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Erosion prevention work will close a section of the Okanagan Rail Trail later this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The North Okanagan regional district is notifying trail uses the section of the rail trail between Kick Willie Road in Coldstream and Kekuli Bay Provincial Park will be closed for over two weeks from May 19 to June 5.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThese works are being completed proactively to ensure the trail&#8217;s long-term resilience and continuity,\u201d reads a media release issued by the regional district, May 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The erosion prevention work will take place between the 4.5 kilometre and 5.6 km marks and that section will be closed during construction. A detour will be available via the Kal\/Crystal Waters Trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOutside of active construction hours, the trail will be reopened up to the construction site limits; however, the work areas themselves will remain impassable due to the narrow trail width and adjacent steep slopes,\u201d the regional district said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a
