What is normally a quiet, picturesque road is going to be a rowdy scene for the return of Kelowna\u2019s most iconic, high octane race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 67th annual Knox Mountain Hill Climb is being held this weekend, May 16 and 17. Drivers will race up the 3.5 kilometre track going up 245 metres in elevation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are 78 drivers signed up this year to test their mettle on the hairpin turns in front of a cheering crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some interesting competitors to look out for Bobbie Phinney in a 1934 Chevrolet, Larry Sandham in a 1978 Mini Vauxhall Clubman and Steve Percival in a 1971 Datsun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Driver Aran Cook of Edmonton holds the course record at 1:34.903, and the winning time from last year was 1:46.121 which was posted by Trevor Yip in a Tesla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tickets are still available for $40 for a full weekend pass or $30 for a single day. Kids under 13 years old get in for free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On top of the race itself there will be a car show, food trucks, beer garden, racing simulator and activities for kids like face painting and balloon animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
